"A Beacon Shining in the Darkness"

A Beacon Shining in the Darkness

Bible Verse:
Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. Is 53:4-6

My thought for today is the pain and agony that Jesus endured for my life is too much to comprehend. I am humbled to the core at the thought of God trying to get our attention through His act of unconditional love for mankind. Christ death on the cross should be a clarion call to repentance, but often it goes on deaf ears and blind eyes.

Why is this so? God loves us so much that He would put aside His deity to suffer at the hands of His creation just to show us the full extend of His love. He endured the pain for my sins so that by faith I would not endure His wrath. After all He is a Holy God and sin has not place in His presence.

Reread today’s scripture passage. Drink it all in. God the Creator of the universe grieved for His creation. He allowed those who disrespected Him to abuse Him without a word. He endure the pain and suffering of scourging and crucifixion in order that you and I might have life in Him.

We need to look up and be grateful. Our faith needs to be more than word, but rather the actions of the faithful. We need to surrender our lives into His care so that others would come to know the love of the Savior. We must not be shy about our call. The picture of Christ dying to set us free must be our call to action.

We have been redeemed for a purpose. Our lives have meaning through faith. Eternity is held in the balance for many whose lives we touch. Allow the light of Christ to shine so brightly in your life that others want to know why you are so different and when they ask tell them about the love of the Savior. This is what He is calling us to do.

Does the beacon of God’s love shine brightly in your life? Have others taken notice of God’s love in you? What else needs to be revealed before your faith can become the VERB that God intended it to be? Go! Be the person that God has called you to be!
