Surrendered

Bible Verse:
“Fear not, for you will not be put to shame; Neither feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced; But you will forget the shame of your youth, And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. “For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the LORD of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth. “For the LORD has called you, Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,” Says your God. “For a brief moment I forsook you, But with great compassion I will gather you. “In an outburst of anger I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting loving kindness I will have compassion on you,” Says the LORD your Redeemer. Is 54:4-8

My thought for today is we have nothing to fear because God is with us; God will strengthen us and be our provision forever. Isaiah was writing to a people in exile, a people who had despaired over God. Israel had felt abandoned and yet it was they who had abandoned God. They as a nation had left their first love to serve other gods.

We need to careful search our own heart and mind to determine if we are in right relationship with God. Have we placed more importance on our own abilities than we have in our walk of faith with God? Are we more focused on making a living than creating a life which is Holy and pleasing to God? Has fear of the unknown, fear of poor health or fear of loosing a loved one crippled us? We can be set free by the love of God. All we need to do is turn and call upon His name, surrendering our circumstances into His care.

Life is too short to live it in fear. Jesus came into this world to show us what abundant life may mean. If may not be easy, for His life was surely not. It may not satisfy all of our wants and desires in this life, but what it can do is set us free to enjoy God fully.

Jesus let go and let God be glorified in His life. He demonstrated the perfect life and how one could find peace in God through total surrender. We too have a choice. Will we seek our own way or surrender that way to the love of God and walk humbly before Him?

Look carefully at your life. Be critical of your motives and your relationship with God. Make sure that God is on the throne of your life and that He is #1 in your heart and mind. When this happens the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.
