"Enjoying Quiet Time With God"
Enjoying Quiet Time With God
Bible Verse: Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. “Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David. Is 55:2-3
My thought for today is the fact that we spend far too much attention on the things of life and far too little attention on the things of God. I do not know about you, but I know I am easily distracted. It does not take much for my mind to wander. Even as I sit and meditate on God’s Word I see a piece of paper on my desk and it reminds me that I have got to do something and immediately my attention is refocused on what I need to do rather than the One who had my attention to begin with.
We need to learn to delight ourselves in the Lord. We need to find peace in the midst of circumstances that would normally grab our attention. Our focus needs to be on God. Life will wait! Then things that we need to do, which were high priority will still be there when we turn our attention to them after an amazing respite with our God.
Life is too short to waste it on the things that do not have eternal impact. We may live 60,70 or even 80 years and yet each time we get distracted with the things of life we lose an opportunity to be at peace with God.
Isaiah reminds the Chosen People that God cares about their focus. He cares what we spend time doing and thinking about. He has so much to give us, but in order to receive we need to come into His presence and spend quality time with Him.
He so much wants to hear from each one of us right now. So stop reading! Enter into His presence. Call upon His name and enjoy a moment of fellowship with the Creator of life.
Thank you God for caring. Thank you for waiting for us to respond to your call. I pray that we will not get distracted again and enjoy more time in fellowship with you.
Are you distracted? Do you have things to do and places to go to and little time to spend in the presence of God? Take a moment an reassess your schedule are you making God a priority or someone you fit in. He has much to show you, but can’t until He has your undivided attention. Give it to Him you will not be disappointed.
