Praying Unceasingly
Bible Verse: “Even those I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” Is 56:7
My thought for today is the fact that we are called to honor God through pray and worship in His house. We are easily distracted with the busyness of life. We seldom take the time need to truly humble ourselves before God, to pour our heart in prayer or let go and worship God with our heart, mind, body and soul.
Our church services on weekends are more of a social than they are a service. Many desire to be entertained by music and great preaching rather sit quietly turning our heart and mind to God. We want actions rather than surrendered silence.
I often wonder if our churches are not the place of worship that they should be where is the Holy place where we go to turn our attention fully to God. This place does not have a clock. It can’t be bothered by cell phone, nor interrupted by the activities that go on around us. It can’t be traded for the busyness of life, but rather must become the center of our being.
In our worship we need to be full committed to God. No amount of distraction should be able to thwart us from our mission of praising God, offering prayers of adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication. We are to offer our lives to God in this place doubling and redoubling our focus to be more like Jesus.
Take a moment and look back over the last several weeks. How many times did you truly pray? Were you times of worship God worthy or simply events that you attended? Did you lay your life before God honoring Jesus as your Lord and Savior or were you present in body, but not mind and soul? The good news is today begins the rest of our lives. We can choose to humble ourselves before God. We can do it right where we are. We can enter the sanctuary of God within our next breath, praising Him for who He is and what He has done for us. Our prayers are heard as we turn our heart toward God. Faith can be strengthened in the presence of God. In His sanctuary God prepares us. Do not leave this moment before you are properly prepared and until after you have entered His sanctuary and prayed.
