Thy Word is Lamp Unto My Feet
Bible Verse: “Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. “For behold, darkness will cover the earth, And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you, And His glory will appear upon you. “And nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. Is 60:1-3
My thought for today is the excitement that should be in the air for those who know Jesus and are called according to His purpose, but all too often we are found day dreaming or asleep. When we talk about Jesus there ought to be energy, power and an outpouring of His love in our voices. People should be falling asleep as His Word is proclaim but rather brought to the edge of their seats with anticipation.
I am afraid that many in the Body of Christ have become dulled by the world, distracted by its busyness, mesmerized by its intoxicating self fulfilling focus that we have stopped to see the Word of God as power propelling energy. Often we come to church on Sunday’s for entertainment and go away saddened that our needs have not been fulfilled. This is NOT a result of our pastor’s attempt to proclaim the Word of God, but our failure to be inspired by its reading, excited by its enabling and challenged by its call to action.
Isaiah has a clarion call to the nation. They are to rise up from they captivity and be exhilarated by the proclamation of the Word of God. They were called to see the Light, to be the light in a people steeped in darkness. You and I have that same call. We need to get off the bench and into the game.
Our listlessness needs to be replaced with the excitement of God’s love. We have something incredible to share with our neighbors and without saying a word we can show an energy and glow that all want to know what happened, what makes a difference in our lives.
The time for action is NOW! Take time, make time to be a student of God’s Word. Allow it to permeate your entire being. Through the Holy Spirit you will not be left in the dark, but rather you can be brought into the light where you will find a smile on your face and a bounce in your step if you will make God’s word a part of your life. The transformation is a decision that you alone can make so get jazzed on the Word of God and allow His light to shine through you.
Are you living the same old same old? Is there excitement in your life or have you allowed the world to zap your strength? Pick up today the ultimate energy source, the Bible. Allow it to flow freely in your life. When you do others will be effected by your enthusiasm and God’s light will shine.
