Thought for Today for 11/18/2009

"Enjoying the Presence of God"
Enjoying the Presence of God
Bible Verse: For from of old they have not heard nor perceived by ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides Thee, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. Is 64:4
My thought for today is the awesomeness nature of God revealed to us through His Creation and in His amazing Word. I am afraid at times we take God for granted. We make Him so small that He could be hidden from our sight. The real fact of the matter is that He is without limits, with nowhere to hide from His presence.
Today’s Scripture passage is a wake up call to a people who have shrunk God. We know who we are because we all have from time to time tried to place God in a box and hide Him away. Sometimes we speak and act as if He does not see and hear everything that goes on in our lives.
I often wonder if our lives would change if we were living as if we were acting or speaking before the throne of His grace. Anger, fear, frustration and pride would not be banners that we would naturally carry into His presence if we loved Him with all of our heart, mind, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves.
There is no way that words could even begin to describe the awe of God. To have Him care so much that He would take the form of a man, “empty Himself” and die on a cross for our sins is too much to even begin to comprehend.
This is why we need to be praising God throughout our days rather than acting as if we have never met Him. God is present here as you read this message. Take a moment to thank Him for His love and His grace. We merit nothing but receive everything from the One who loves us unconditionally.
Are you in disobedience to the will of God? Have you considered that God is with you at all times? There is no place that you can go where He is not there. There is no act nor word that you might speak that He does not already know about and lovingly forgive you of. Make a change! Take God with you today. Having Him present in your conversations. Praise His name through your actions. Sing praises to Him as you enjoy His presence throughout your day. He is worthy of your time and attention, so give it to Him.
