It’s An Amazing Book
Bible Verse: Thus says the LORD, “Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? “For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word. Is 66:1-2
My thought for today is the fact that there is power and majesty in the living God and yet often man is not humbled by His amazing word. The Words from God’s mouth have been etched on the pages of Scripture but we are too busy to take notice. They cry out to us day and night and yet the pages of our bibles are seldom turned.
We can marvel at the craziest things, a messed up football player or an actor who’s live is sin city on earth. We idolize people of no account, hanging on their every word and yet when the Creator of the universe speaks we ignore Him.
Think about these words. How many times have you been truly humbled by the hearing or reading of the Word of God? Has your knee bowed and tongue confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of our Heavenly Father? Life is about making good choices and the Word of God is the most perfect choice we could ever make.
When I read these words this morning I was truly humbled to stop and consider what the Word of God has meant to me these past two decades. I did not own a Bible until I was forty so it seems like there has been a lot of catching up that I have desired to do.
I have hungered and thirsted after the Word of God. I have been fed, filled and emptied at the same time. I have been humbled and lifted up, been broken and made whole and filled to overflowing by this amazing Book.
We all ought to be in awe that the Creator of heaven and earth, the One enthroned in heaven, the One who loves us completely would leave for us to read daily His amazing Word. This Book if we will make it our life’s work has the power to transform lives and that is worth shouting about.
Are you a student of God’s Word? Does its nourishment fill you daily? Have you been humbled and found to look at God in awe by what you hear and read from this incredible book? Life is too short! Spend more of it enjoying God! Read His Word daily and be filled, challenged and humbled all at the same time.
