Thought for Today for 12/15/2009

Confession – A Time of Preparation
Bible Verse: Hear, O peoples, all of you; Listen, O earth and all it contains, and let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple. For behold, the LORD is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. Mic 1:2-3
My thought for today is the fact that God is a witness both for and against us because nothing is hidden from the sight of the Lord. I am always awed by the fact that God loves me in spite of my transgressions. He sees me thinking about acting in anger, speaks words of forgiveness into my ear and yet in selfish pride I ignore and let go my fury of words that cut deep into children of God.
God is not hidden in my sin. He sees all and yet when I humble myself and come to Him in confession He forgives me and cleanses my heart, reminding me gently that this is not the desired behavior of a son of His.
As I begin a new study in the Book of Micah this advent season, just ten days from Christmas, I am reminded of the coming day of the Lord. Though Micah is talking about a time yet to be when Christ will come in judgment, it can be for those who chose a wake up call of repentance.
We are called to confess our sins one to another, to keep short accounts less we forget that we have sinned against God in our jealousy, lust or anger. God is a holy God and deserves more from those He has called by name and in particular those who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Take a moment right now and call upon God’s Spirit. Ask that He reveal any unconfessed sins of commission or sins of omission that have cluttered your life. We need to prepare for the coming of Jesus and sin in our lives is a road block to receiving all that God has intended for us this holiday season. Humble yourself before God. He already knows the sin. I wants to know if you love Him fully enough to confess it before Him and seek His forgiveness. Set yourself free and be ready, willing and able to receive Christ anew this Christmas.
Do you have a right relationship with God? Have all the areas of your life been cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb? Are you ready to receive Christ? There are only a few more days and time is fleeting. Let’s not waste another moment and with joy and thanksgiving in our hearts prepare for the coming of the baby Jesus.
