"Upheld By the Word of God"

Upheld By the Word of God

Bible Verse:
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Ps 1:2-3

My thought for today is the types of self-help books that man have written and continues to write is trash when compared to the Word of God. We will never be able to improve ourselves, thinking and acting on what we can conjure up. Man though created in the image of God would rather choose self-satisfaction over humble submission to the will of God. We would rather do anything before we make God’s word a priority in our lives.

Bible Study is usually an after thought, something that we fit in and is the first to go when the schedule becomes cluttered. Work, pleasure, self-gratification all come bore our dedication to making the Word of God come alive in our lives. We wonder why we have no joy or peace when God has blessed us in this life. Perhaps the answer can be found in today’s scripture passage.

When we delight ourselves in study of the Word of God amazing things occur. We see more clearly what is right and what is wrong. Relativism has no place in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ, feel good, name it claim it religion is no replacement for the sound doctrine taught in the Word of God. The things of man will never feed us properly. We need spiritual food because we are both body and spirit. We will only bear fruit and prosper if we make our study of the word of God are number one priority.

God has left us instructions on how to find comfort in turmoil, peace in calamity, joy in times when peace is not possible from a worldly perspective. We can flourish in the presence of God. We will still have all of the challenges of life, sorrow, fear, frustration and anxiety will not be removed, but in God’s Word we will learn how to cope with the obstacles of life. We will learn how to look to God for our support and to be fed and not to man who always disappoints.

Is the study of god’s Word a priority in your own life? Do you meditate on it day and night? Have you found peace in the storms of life having been fed by the Word of God? We are enable, equipped and sustained by this amazing Book. God had it written for our instruction, so that we would be drawn to Him and finally find peace. Take time each day to read, heed and obey and you will find yourself prospering in your walk with God.
