"Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing"

Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing

Bible Verse:
O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O God; by their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, for they are rebellious against Thee. Ps 5:8-10

My thought for today is we are always following someone or something to a place here we believe we want to go. It does not matter if it is a position of power and prestige, a place of recognition or a place of service; we all seek things in life. It is quite interesting when we finally take a step back and evaluate where we are and where we are currently headed. Someone or something is always the driving force behind our actions.

Nothing is done in a total random way. Our behavior and our actions are marked by years of shaping, years of following, years of listening to from within or from without. Our days are filled to capacity but the real question is do we have the day filled with the right priorities, are we focused on the right element of life, are we driven to please ourselves, man or God?

Take a moment now. Assess the factors that motivate your behavior, that give reason to your actions and your speech. David chose to have His relationship with God to be the main driver of his life. He saw others driven by selfishness. Others may advance ahead of us because the world is focused on man itself and not their Creator.

We can make a difference in the lives of people around us by simply living out the gospel. We can have a focus that brings honor and glory to God rather than robbing Him of His praise. Life is about making good choices.

As you prepare to go out today. Be mindful of why you live your life the way it is. Check your pride at the door before exiting, control your speech, muzzle your anger, love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Are you ready to make a difference for today and all eternity? Will you choose to humble yourself in the sight of the Lord? He is waiting on our response; let’s not disappoint Him. Let’s chose to keep Him Lord of our lives.
